Watermelon Smoothie

This watermelon smoothie is exactly what you want on a hot summer day! It’s perfectly creamy, naturally sweet, and the ultimate thirst quencher.

Watermelon smoothies in glasses with fresh watermelon

There’s truly nothing more refreshing than chilled watermelon all summer long. I’m a big fan of chopping watermelon up to make my watermelon, cucumber and feta salad, or grilling it for smoky, cilantro lime grilled watermelon. But a cold glass of watermelon agua fresca or this creamy smoothie really hits the spot on a blazing hot day.

Side note, this isn’t just blended watermelon and ice (which is more of a slushy). Instead, this is a luscious smoothie recipe loaded with watermelon, strawberries, vanilla Greek yogurt, and milk (you can use dairy-free also). Sound refreshing and delicious? I think yes!

What’s In This Watermelon Smoothie

Smoothies should be quick and easy, so this recipe calls for just 4 ingredients. Here’s what you’ll need.

  • Watermelon: I’m using fresh cubed watermelon, which makes this smoothie slurpable. But if you want it EXTRA thick you could freeze the watermelon cubes overnight.
  • Strawberries: Frozen is best to keep the smoothie thick and creamy!
  • Vanilla Greek Yogurt: I’m using vanilla yogurt for a hint of sweetness and added flavor. But feel free to use any dairy or non-dairy yogurt.
  • Milk: Any type of milk will work, but I personally love to use non-dairy milks such as almond milk or cashew milk!

Why Watermelon Is So Good For You!

  • The ultimate hydration boost! Did you know watermelon is made up of 92% water? With that high percentage of water, plus loads of fiber, it will make you feel fuller longer without consuming tons of calories.
  • Can improve digestion. The powerful combination of water and fiber helps to improve bowel movements.
  • Loaded with antioxidants. Watermelon is not only high in lycopene (which makes it a great anti-inflammatory fruit), but also beta-carotene, cucurbitacin, and Vitamin C.

How To Make This Watermelon Smoothie

Smoothies are great for getting your daily dose of fruits in an instant. All you need to do is toss everything into a blender and let it work its magic. In under one minute, you’ll have this vibrant, creamy watermelon smoothie!

  13. Could I use sugar free yogurt and unsweetened coconut milk to reduce the sugar/carb count?

  14. I had some doubts that this would be good as I’m not a huge smoothie fan and the ingredients are so simple, but I was pleasantly surprised. It was so yummy, my new favourite! P.S. I love all your recipes that I have tried!5 stars

  17. Hi! Is there suppose to be banana in the recipe? Not listed but in directions. Thanks!

  18. Have some wonderfully ripe watermelon in the fridge. Can’t wait to try.

Instructions say to add banana but it’s not listed in ingredients.

  19. Your instructions mention adding banana but ingredients do not list banana?

  20. Don’t see banana in the recipe, but it is listed in the instructions. How much banana should be used? Also, if using plain Greek yogurt instead of vanilla, can vanilla extract be substituted? If so, how much would you recommend? Thank you

    • I actually just tweaked the recipe, as there is no banana in this :) As for the yogurt, you can use plain Greek yogurt. I would just add about a teaspoon of vanilla extract.

  21. This looks delicious! Did you remove all the seeds of the watermelon first, or no need?

  22. When were you going to add the yogurt? It said add the milk, but nothing about the yogurt. Did I miss something, probably did.?

  23. I didn’t think this would be good  and I was wrong and This is soooo good, so I was born and raised in Korea and living in Europe right now, it kind of reminds me of strawberry milk that I used to drink in korea. I cant find those starwberry milk here but this totally hits the spot that I missed, its creamy yet refreshing! Thank you Lisa for coming up with this recipe!  5 stars

  24. Unfortunately I pretty much never eat watermelon as an adult, but this was just too easy and tastes so good. Combining the watermelon with frozen strawberries seems so natural but not sure I’d have ever thought of it. Thank you!5 stars

  25. So what are the ingredients? You list watermelon, strawberries, almond milk and vanilla Greek yogurt. But in the description it’s watermelon, strawberries, banana and milk.

    • Hi Anthony – thanks for pointing that out! I just adjusted the recipe as there’s supposed to be no banana in this.
